Hours: 5 hours per week
Wage: $20 per hour

About the Role:
The Afro-Canadian Positive Network of BC (ACPNET BC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Peer Mentor to join our B’ YES Program team. This role is ideal for individuals with lived experience and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by Black youth. The successful candidate will provide peer-based support, mentorship, and guidance to help youth build resilience and improve their mental well-being through culturally relevant approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in mentorship training to develop skills for supporting Black youth.
- Facilitate peer mentorship sessions, providing guidance and support to participants.
- Assist in planning and delivering youth-led activities, including storytelling and conversation circles.
- Provide input on the development of culturally appropriate mental health toolkits.
- Support outreach efforts by sharing information about mental health resources.
- Offer a safe, stigma-free space for youth to discuss their challenges and strengths.
- Encourage youth engagement in skill-building workshops and mentorship activities.
- Assist with evaluation activities by providing insights on program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with youth, preferably within Black communities or culturally diverse settings.
- Strong communication, active listening, and mentorship skills.
- Knowledge of mental health resources and culturally sensitive practices.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive environment for Black youth.
